Born in Bad Windsheim, Germany in 1990, Jackie Furtado was the product of young military divorcees. Induced by constant travel, a routine in movement was ingrained, and is now responsible for her methodology as an artist.
Because my body never stays still, my way of making runs parallel with the domesticated and the asphalt. Arranging my camera on given siblings and structures that deceive with familiarity, pricks my skin –cues the shutter- to bare and present these instances. Once the event becomes still -lays as a photograph- we as viewers allow for the makings to dissemble, presenting estrangements that has always been.
